Lyle D Greiner

Lyle D Greiner of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, June 5th, 2026, at 90 years of age.  Lyle was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan on May 19th, 1936 to Newton and Lyla (née: Newman) Greiner.

Lyle had fond memories of his growing up years in the hamlet of Vantage, SK with his two older brothers, Earl and Dale.  His father was an entrepreneur, so all the boys learned the value of hard work at an early age.  However, there were still plenty of opportunities for socializing with neighbors, playing cards, listening to radio programs, and hanging out at the skating and curling rink with family and friends.

In his young adult years, Lyle farmed in the Vantage area.  However, his work ethic opened the door for management opportunities with Gulf Oil in both Shaunavon and Swift Current, SK.  After 5 years of renting his land to his brother Dale, Lyle decided to return to farming.  So, he sold his land in the Vantage area and moved his family to a farm near Tuxford, SK, where they lived until his retirement in 2003.  In the winter months, Lyle sold real estate in the Moose Jaw area.  Lyle and his wife, Sharon, spent many years traveling and wintering in Arizona.

He was predeceased by his parents, Newton and Lyla; brother, Dale Greiner; half-brother, Clifford Greiner; and half-sister, Marion Shellrude.  Lyle is survived by his wife, Sharon (née: Sorsdahl) Greiner; children: Debbie (Dan) Thul, Barb (Steve) Raine, Todd (Kellie) Greiner, Carla Johnson, and Leone (Marcus) Cruz; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.  Lyle is also survived by his oldest brother, Earl (Maxine), and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Lyle’s Life will be held on Monday, June 29th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Shirese Noble Funeral Director 306-693-4550

My Dad Marlow Ross loved his Greiner cousins. Their love of family resulted in many big and small gatherings throughout their lives. I am forever grateful for their example. They taught us that the time and effort to get together and be connected results in fun , laughter and cherished memories. Family is a blessing from God. Love and hugs to you all
