Marion Phyllis Odynski

Beverly Joan Patterson (Dey) born February 20, 1942, passed peacefully in her Calgary home Friday, May 29, 2026. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John Gordon (Jack) Patterson, as well as her parents Hazel and Duke Dey.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their families – Dave, and his children Skye, Kieran, and Griffon; Tracey and her children Dee and Niki; and Jim (Bri-Anne) and his child Eve; as well as her two sisters, Donna (Dean) and Sandra (Robert) and their families, her brother-in-law Bob, her sister-in-law Judy and their families and a host of extended family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Joan studied nursing. She was a devoted community member throughout her life, from her days in Beta-Sigma-Phi sorority through her involvement in the Kinettes.

She will be best remembered for her passion both for her family and her various pursuits. Joan had a love of golf, which connected her to her husband, friends, and later community. An inveterate creative, Joan was a talented fibre-artist, she was fond of quilting, knitting, crocheting, and in her later years learned to felt wool. She was a woman of many hidden creative talents, including metal-working and cake decorating (a talent from which her family – especially her grandchildren – benefitted.) Joan was always curious, interested in learning something new, and took great pleasure in learning to paint in her final years.

She will be remembered for her love, strength, and positive outlook- in her own words her “only complaint is that there are not enough hours in the day to complete all the things that I would like to do.”

A Celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A private family graveside will be held at Joan’s request.  The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers at this time.

The family respectfully declines flowers and would gratefully appreciate a donation in her memory to the Arthur J.E Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre (3395 Hospital Dr. NW, Calgary, AB T2N 5G2.)

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
