Michael Lariviere
It is with deep sadness that Michael’s family announce his passing. Michael was born on December 31, 1971 in Moose Jaw, Sk. He peacefully passed away on April 13, 2026 in Regina Sk.
Mike did not have an easy life due to unfortunate medical issues, but that did not stop him. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Eunice and Carl in Moose Jaw. He enjoyed so many different things, bike riding, playing the Wii, music, pizza, Halloween, a fascination with the police (he wanted to become one), in fact the Moose Jaw Police gave him his own uniform shirt. He also loved animals, especially his cats, and his love of Elvis Presley. He loved to visit family, whether it was with family in Moose Jaw or weekends in Regina. Michael had many jobs, but his favourite was working in the laundry department at Valley View Centre. For the last several years, Michael loved to play Uno and was crowned and remains Uno Champ!
During his life, Mike made countless friends, but his dearest friend was Darrell. They shared many wonderful times together. The most amazing things they did together was becoming “body guards” for Mark and his Elvis impersonation shows. They both took this job very seriously.
Michael was the ultimate Elvis fan. He knew all the songs, singing with them when they played. He knew all his movies and even dressed like Elvis many times for Halloween. Mike’s rooms were heavily decorated with all his Elvis memorabilia. Michael loved every holiday, especially Christmas and Halloween. The staff at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre had to be prepared for all the horror movies he liked to watch. Mike also loved Christmas, whether at home or at Wascana, he had all sorts of decorations and a Christmas tree. He enjoyed watching Christmas movies and singing along to Christmas songs. And of course, right after Christmas was his birthday, so he was very spoiled.
Michael spent the last 10 years at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. He loved the staff and they loved him too. There were so many staff at the Centre that paid special attention to Mike, which he was very appreciative of. We, the family can not express enough gratitude for the love and care Michael received while he loved there. It was because of the care he received at Wascana that we were able to spend more time with Mike. The staff became part of Michael’s family and ours also!
Upon his passing, we knew Eunice and Carl were waiting for him in Heaven. Michael was also predeceased by his mother, Kathy and his father, Roland; uncles: Dennis, Dwayne, Larry and Dale; aunts: Judy, Brenda and Sharon; brothers-in-law: Gary, Ken, Dennis and Dave.
Michael leaves behind to mourn, brother, James (Marivic); aunts: Carol, Darlene (Darrell); Debbie (Harley) and their families; cousin, Darrin (Ivey), whom Mike had a special friendship with and many more relatives and friends.
A Graveside Service for Michael will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosedale Cemetery. For friends and family who wish to attend we ask that we meet at the cemetery gaits at 10:45 a.m.
