Robert Theodore Busse

Robert Theodore Busse passed away on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, at the age of 93 years.  Robert was born on the family farm near Hallonquist, Saskatchewan to Teddy and Olga Busse, where he was raised alongside his 15 siblings.  At the age 20, he moved to Moose Jaw, SK to begin his lifelong career in plumbing.

Bob met Dorothy at a dance in Moose Jaw.  They married in 1960 and began their life together on a farm near Boharm, SK where soon after they welcomed Laurie and Lorne, followed by Lisa and Shauna a few years later.  After Laurie’s passing, the family moved to Moose Jaw and eventually settled in a house Bob had built across the street from where they were married.

Bob worked in the plumbing & heating industry for many years, later operating his own business.  He had a dream to build a bowling alley and roller-skating rink and made it happen.  Bob and Dorothy partnered in the Superskate and Bowlarena, in addition to operating revenue properties, which he did until his passing.

Bob enjoyed sports and participated in curling, fastball, and bowling.  He umpired in baseball and fastball and coached his kids (and many other kids as well), leading teams to city and provincial championships.  Other hobbies included cards, pool, dance, singing and playing his prized guitar, and of course his many puzzles which he loved to test on others.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Laurie; parents, Theodore and Olga; and siblings: Irene, Lloyd, Arthur, Albert, Irma, Eldred, Norman, Bernice, Rodney, Yvonne, and Donna.  Robert is survived by his children: Lorne, granddaughters Dana and Megan, Lisa (Kevin), step-grandsons Cameron and Owen, and Shauna (Wayne), grandsons Bralen and Teagan; and siblings: Dodie, Eleanor, Clinton, Derald.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held Saturday, May 30th, 2026 2:00 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 1755 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Robert’s name may be made to Timothy Eaton Centre/Moose Jaw and District Senior Citizens Association, 510 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 3K3 or online at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/moose-jaw-and-district-senior-citizens-association-inc/.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Shirese Noble Funeral Director 306-693-4550
