Kristian Marius Jensen
With great sadness, mixed with gratitude, we announce the passing of Kristian Marius Jensen. Kristian passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship, generosity, humour, and deep love for his family (including pets) and community.
Kristian was born in Vinding, Denmark, in December 1933 to Anna and Otto Jensen. As a young man, he completed his journeyman training in masonry and bricklaying before embarking on a new chapter in 1957 when he emigrated to Canada with his cousin, Aage Jensen – bringing with him the determination and work ethic that would define his life. After travelling and working across the country, he eventually settled in Saskatchewan, where fate led him to Moose Jaw. There he met the love of his life, Marilyn Jones, and the two were married in 1967, beginning a partnership that lasted more than five decades.
Kristian built a long and respected career as a master mason. For many years he worked with Graco Masonry and later founded his own company, Krisco Masonry. His craftsmanship can be seen throughout Moose Jaw, Regina, and beyond, where he contributed to the construction of many brick buildings, including the Credit Union Centre on Albert Street (aka ‘The Ship’), as well as numerous churches, schools, hospitals, fire halls, condominium buildings, and homes. He took immense pride in his work, knowing the structures he helped build would stand for generations. In his later years he focused his talents on building birdhouses, stone-top tables, and concrete owls and cats.
Within the extended family, Kristian was known as the person you called when something needed to be built or fixed. Whether it was construction, repairs, or advice, he was always ready to lend his skills and his time. Over the years, he also became “Dad” to many — including Penny, Ross, and Uly — offering guidance, help, and a steady presence whenever it was needed.
Kristian will be fondly remembered for his sharp sense of humour, his love of playing pranks, teasing people, and the way he delighted in surprising — or “gently scaring” — friends and family just to hear their laughter (and occasional cursing). He especially enjoyed his traditional Danish foods like Ebelskivers and Frikadeller and Esrom cheese (fondly remembered by others for its horrible smell). He also loved fishing, a good game of cribbage and old-time country music.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marilyn, in 2019; parents, Anna and Otto Jensen; sister, Gerda (Alf, deceased); sister-in-law, Vicky (Archie, deceased) and parents-in-law, Evelyn and Victor Jones. Left to mourn Kristian’s passing are his sons, Kurt and Darcy (Stacie); his cherished grandchildren: Hannah (Ryan), Maxwell, Victor, and Jack; and siblings, Esther (Axel. deceased) and Holger (Inger), both of Denmark. Also left to remember him in Canada are his beloved sisters-in-law, Donelda Barnabe (Marcel), and Dian Denet (George, deceased), along with a large extended family in both Canada and Denmark.
Kristian will be cremated in Moose Jaw and laid to rest with Marilyn. A gathering for friends and family will be held this summer. Honorary pallbearers will be his past family pets: Butch, Casey, Finnegan, Toby, Missy, Czar, Deacon, Cali, Cletus, and Matilda (Tilly).
Kristian’s final wish was simple: to share a Skål with friends and family over a bottle of Carlsberg beer — something we were all happy to oblige. In his final moments, he drifted off peacefully listening to George Jones and Tammy Wynette singing duets.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Johnson and all the wonderful, caring nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at Pasqua Hospital. And a big hug to Terri and all the amazing staff at College Park I in Regina for all the love, companionship and care provided over the past couple of years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kristian’s name may be made to the Metro Pet Foundation, 1637 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 0P8. More information about the foundation can be found at www.metropetmarket.ca. A few more photos will be posted on Metro Pet Market’s Facebook page.
Kristian’s life was defined by hard work, generosity, humour, and devotion to family. His legacy will live on in the buildings he helped create, the family he loved, the animals he cared for, and the many lives he touched along the way.
‘Tak skal du have’, for everything, Kristian.
