Dorothy Lillian Hazel Hall

It is with heavy hearts and tremendous sadness that we announce the recent passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Dorothy Lillian Hall, that occurred on Thursday, March 5th, 2026.  Dorothy was born in Grainland, Saskatchewan on June 1st, 1938 to the late David and Maria Schulties.  She was one of 16 children and the last remaining sister.  She was predeceased by her brothers: Gordon, Walter, Elmer, and Ken; and sisters: Julia, Ruth, Martha, Doris, Fran, Jean, Shirley, Donna, and Betty.

After finishing her education in Moose Jaw, SK Dorothy moved to Winnipeg, MB to obtain her nursing education at the Misericordia Hospital.  After graduating, she returned to Moose Jaw to nurse at the Providence Hospital.  It was there she met her future husband, Wayne Hall, son of the late Lawrence and Doris Hall, as her patient on the surgery ward.

Dorothy moved to the farm to start her second career as a phenomenal farm wife and mother.  They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2023 with a celebration before Wayne passed away in 2024.  They enjoyed several years of travelling to many countries with many great friends.  She absolutely loved her hot vacations and was so happy to take the grandsons with Wayne to Mexico.  Dorothy was an avid Warriors Fan and loved attending the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas with her favorite cowboy.  She was a genuine, beautiful person who saw goodness in all and loved her family with every ounce of her being.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her daughter, Shelly Hall; grandson, Karsten Gorrill; son, Brent Hall (Shelly and family); grandson, Keegan Hall; brothers, Doug and Charles (Carol); sister and brothers-in-law: Sharon, Edwin, and Ernie; special niece, Bev; friends: Denise, Ryan, Patty, and Elly; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and all others who shared in her life.

Dorothy is now reunited with Wayne as God knew he needed her.  We were so blessed to have her in our lives; Heaven has truly gained an angel…

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 17th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion United Church, 423 Main St N in Moose Jaw with Reverend Deborah Smith officiating.  A Time of Fellowship will follow at the Moose Jaw Shrine Club located at 1767 Main Street North.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to STARS Air Ambulance, 2640 Airport Road, Regina, SK S4W 1A3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Shelly and Brent, I am so sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. She is at peace and once again united with Wayne. Wish I had been able to visit before this loss of a wonderful lady. I think of her often and the many fun times over the years. Thinking of you with sympathy during this difficult time.

I am so sad to hear of Dorothy’s passing. They lived above me on Athabasca west . Wayne always knocked on my door in the morning so I would get up and go to school. One morning he said Dorothy had had a baby boy over night. I did not even know she was pregnant, she had kept Brent well hidden. My first baby sitting job in town. Dorothy and her Dad were very close, I miss all 3. Sympathy to Brent and Shelly.

Our deepest condolences to Shelly, Brent and all of Dorothy’s family.
We both enjoyed talking to Dorothy whenever we saw her. One particular memory that Clayton has was from years ago when he was young and going to dances. He would go to dances where Wayne was playing in the band and Dorothy would be sitting there. So he would ask her to dance. He says she loved to dance and was an excellent dancer!

A more wonderful Lady there never was. I adored her laugh and it was not hard to get one out of her. She was so fun and genuine. I have missed her for a long time now with time and miles between us all. But when I see the pictures of Dorothy and Wayne on your Facebook page Shelley it always brings a smile as the memories are overwhelming. She lived a great life and I know how proud both you kids are of her as she was of you. God Bless you both at this time. You have lost one of the best!
