Virginia Madelaine Marcil
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia Madelaine Marcil. Virginia left us peacefully, with her family by her side, on Thursday, February 12th, 2026.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Hawrysh; sisters, Victoria and Eleanor (Peter); husband, Jean Louis; son, Louis Jr; and daughter-in-law, Karen. Virginia is survived by her son, Harvey (Linda); daughter, Candace (Bill); daughter-in-law, Jewelline; grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Stoner; sister-in-law, Elaine Morrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia was born September 23rd, 1929 and grew up in Meacham, Saskatchewan. She later became a teacher, which brought her to Courval, SK where she met Louis. In 1954, they married and she began her life as a hard-working farmer’s wife. She was known as a very good cook who fed a lot of farm help. Louis and Virginia raised their family in Courval until moving to Moose Jaw, SK in 1967. Virginia was a very devoted mother. She always found time to attend many baseball games along with dance and music recitals that her children participated in. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and needlepoint. Some of her greatest joys came from travelling with family, specifically the trips to Mexico with her grandchildren.
The Funeral Celebration will be held on Monday, February 23rd, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Deacon Lamont Dyck will officiate, and a private interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Virginia’s name may be made to Lung Saskatchewan, 2308 Arlington Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L3. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

When we all lived in Courval she would bake me a Pie when I asked for one. it was our little secret and I would leave the pie at her house so it would not get eaten up my my brothers and sisters at my home. Her and I would have our special visits together. I always had her as my special Aunty next door and Loved her attention.
Harvey, Linda and The Marcil Family
