Elaine Mary Bymoen

It is with sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, Elaine Mary Bymoen, who passed away on Friday, February 6th, 2026, at the age of 88 years, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Mom was born to Awald and Bertha Martin in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on June 19th, 1937.  She was the third eldest to five children – Milton (Karen) Martin, Alvin (Jackie) Martin, August “aka Bud” (Lynn) Martin, and Carolyn (Richard) Evans.

Mom met Irvin Leroy Bymoen after graduating from high school and were married shortly thereafter on April 11th, 1956.  They welcomed four children into their life: Cheryl Ann (Patrick), Sandra Louise (Don), Carolyn Diane (Ron), and Brent Irvin (Richard).  Mom and Dad were blessed with eight grandchildren: Michael, Mason, Jay, Kristie, Maegan, Caitlin, Aaron, and Sawyer; as well as six great-grandchildren: Madison, Mitchell, Avery, Atley, Colbie, and Kali; and many nieces and nephews.

There was nothing our mother could not do when she set her mind to it.  She was a multi-talented woman which proved to be an inspiration to all of us children.

Mom’s professional experience included work as a homemaker, an administrative assistant, and a provincial park attendant.  Dad’s career relocated the family several times to Swift Current, Yorkton, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, and Moose Jaw.  Upon dad’s retirement, they moved to Candle Lake, SK where they remained for 26 years, and eventually back to Moose Jaw to be with family.

Mom and dad enjoyed many years volunteering at the Moose Jaw Cosmos Senior Citizen Centre.  They also very much enjoyed, and were the biggest fans, cheering on their grandchildren and great-grandchildren in various sporting events.

A few years after dad’s passing in 2018, mom’s new home became The Bentley Senior Living complex until her passing at Providence Place in Moose Jaw.  We wish to extend our sincere thank you to the amazing staff at Providence Place for the exceptional care provided to mom during her brief stay.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 14th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Father Nestor Gregoire will officiate and interment will take place at the Moose Jaw Funeral Home Columbarium.  Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/.  As mom had a love for animals, especially dogs, donations in her name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
