Kristy Lee Meyer-Pritchett

Kristy Lee Meyer-Pritchett, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Thursday, January 29th, 2026, at 12:33 a.m., at the age of 49 years, far too young.  She passed just after the 10th wedding anniversary that she and her husband, Vance Stephen Pritchett, celebrated on January 3rd, 2026.

Kristy Lee Meyer was born in Prince George, BC, on June 13th, 1976.  Her dad, Gerry, was an RCMP officer and their family travelled the country due to his job transfers.  When Kristy was 15 years old, they moved from Ottawa, ON to Grande Prairie.  Boy, was she mad.  I met her shortly after she arrived in Grande Prairie and took her skating on our very first date.  We spent three years together and eventually went our separate ways and lived separate lives.  Kristy and I reunited in 2012, and because of the simple invention of Facebook, had also talked for eight years prior to this.

Kristy had many skills.  She was an artist and attended the Ottawa School of Art.  She was also a model and a cook.  Kristy was actually a Red Seal chef and worked in the restaurant business for four years until she finally owned a restaurant of her own.  She was a very professional woman and worked for most of her life, until she became sick.  Kristy developed a few hobbies: drawing and colouring, likely because she was always an artist, but her main hobby was her plants.  She had a very green thumb.  As her husband, I thought I lived in a forest.

Kristy loved people.  She loved animals, especially dogs.  She was kind.  She was sweet and very thoughtful.

Kristy will be greatly missed by a very large family: her husband, Vance Stephen Pritchett (along with two cats and a dog); mother and father, Linda and Gerry Meyer; brother, Michael (Allysia) Meyer and their children Jessica, Emmitt, Jax, and Elizabeth; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great-cousins.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date, closer to what would have been her 50th birthday.  Kristy will be cremated and laid to rest with her grandparents in Moose Jaw, SK, where her family is from.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
