TERRANCE THOMAS RAY
July 12th, 1954 – January 10th, 2026
Terrance Thomas Ray aged 71 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Saturday, January 10th, 2026.
Terry was born in Moose Jaw, the eldest son of Osborne and Ellen Ray. He grew up on a farm in the Mitchellton area, and attended Mitchellton school for grades 1-4, and Mossbank school for grade 5. In 1965, the family moved to a farm at Crane Valley, SK. He graduated from Crane Valley school in 1972 and went on to take an electrical course at STI in Moose Jaw.
Terry worked as an electrician in Weyburn, SK for a year and then returned to Crane Valley to farm with his father and brother Ken. He also started driving school bus at this time.
Terry married Linda McCann of Viceroy, SK in February of 1976 and they had three children: Darren, Erica, and Adrienne. He ran the Crane Valley Coop Gas Station for a year and then resumed driving bus as he really enjoyed it and continued for 38 years.
Terry was on the Crane Valley School Board, the Assiniboia Coop Board, the Sask Wheat Pool Board, and the Crane Valley Community Club. He attended the Ormiston Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Oro Lake Kinsman Club. Terry was a volunteer firefighter and the “self proclaimed” Mayor of Crane Valley.
Terry spent time playing ball with The Crane Valley Blues. He also enjoyed curling and bonspiels. In the winter, Terry would cook breakfast at the curling rink after his bus run for a few years and always enjoyed a schmear game afterwards. He organized weekly poker nights at the rink for a few years. Terry enjoyed dancing, hunting, and loved to fish. In his later years he excelled at Cribbage, Sweep, and Golf (card game).
Terry was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 50 but it did not slow him down. He farmed until 2013 with help from his friend Brian Jordison, at which time he rented his land out. In October of 2023, he moved to Moose Jaw.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the staff and volunteers at the Maguire Centre, where Terry was a “regular” for the past 2 years. They would also like to thank the staff at St Anthony’s Wing for the care they provided Terry while he was there.
He was predeceased by his parents, Osborne and Ellen Ray; father-in-law, Roy McCann; brothers-in-law, Pat Michalski and Grant McCann; and niece, Brandee McCann. Terry is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Darren (Morgan) and their children Alexander and Lucas; daughter, Erica (Nick) Boschman and their son Samuel; daughter, Adrienne Ray (Justin); brother, Ken Ray; sister, Heather (Thorsten) Michalski; brothers-in-law, Edward (Sharon) McCann and Ian (Tanya) McCann; mother-in-law, Elene McCann; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 23rd, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Bill Luther officiating. My deepest condolences to my aunt Linda, Erica, Darren and Adrienne, and their families. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I will always have fond memories of uncle Terry and the time I spent in Crane Valley and on the farm as a child.
Deepest sympathy to Terry’s family and friends. My sister and I used to babysit Terry, Ken and Heather when the parents went square dancing. We lost touch over the years but from reading Terry’s obituary he had a full life and will be missed by all that knew him. Carol Klepsch (nee Ferguson)
