Gary James Fawcett

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gary James Fawcett on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025 at the age of 79 years.

Gary grew up on the family farm southeast of Parkbeg, SK in the Edgehill district.  It was no surprise that Gary enjoyed all aspects of farm life, from seeding to harvest.  When Gary was no longer able to continue farming himself, he rented out the land and became an adjuster with Municipal Hail.  The 15 years of hail adjusting had Gary travelling all over the province doing what he liked best – looking at crops, meeting new people, and talking farming.

Another passion of Gary’s was playing hockey and hardball.  After a car accident at 18, he was no longer able to play, and he became an avid fan and hockey coach for his son’s team.  Later, Gary could not have been prouder and more excited to watch or hear about his grandsons’ soccer and bowling games.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy (2017) and Percy (1988) Fawcett; in-laws, Marlene (2015) and Doug (1996) Hughes; loving wife of 45 years, Bev (2018); and great-niece, Eden Stevenson (2023).  Gary is survived by his son, Wade Fawcett (partner Lam and her daughter Tracy); daughter Tanya Dalgarno; grandsons, Douglas and Daniel; sisters, Teresa (Cliff) Stevenson and Brenda (Lorne Hamilton); brothers-in-law, Stuart (Denise) Hughes and Randy (Tracey) Hughes; sister-in-law, Connie (Roger) Hope; 12 nieces and nephews, 14 great-nieces and nephews, and 4 great-great-nieces and nephews; as well as many other family relatives and friends.

Family and friends meant the world to Gary, and he will be missed and remembered by many.

We greatly appreciate the wonderful care Gary received while in the Hospital and at The Bentley Venvi.

In keeping with Gary’s wishes, there will be no Funeral Service.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gary’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 55 St Clair Ave W, Suite 300, Toronto, ON M4V 2Y7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Our deepest sympathy to Gary’s family. I met Gary through homecare at the Bentley and my husband knew Gary’s from delivering fuel to the farm with Seaborg fuel.

We are saddened to hear of Gary’s recent passing. He was such a respected man who along with his father Percy, became fast friends with my parents Tork and Ruth Macara and was pallbearer at each of their funerals also in 1963 at my brother Murray’s funeral.
    Condolences to all! R.I.P Gary!!!

My deepest sympathy to Garry’s family. We went to school together for years. He was always polite and kind. His Dad and mine were 2 of the first 3 school bus drivers to go to Mortlach school.

Wade, Tanya, Teresa and Brenda We are so sad to hear about Gary. He was such a good friend, for so many years. Fawcetts were our closest neighbors for most of my life, so have many good memories, going back to the 50s.
We miss all the weekly coffees we had with Gary and Bev. You’ll never find a more caring guy and will be missed by everyone!

Sincere condolences to Wade and Tanya and the family. Your parents were faithful members of the United Church and that is where our friendship renewed. Gary was always one to come for a visit after a death in our family. He was a very kind sincere soul !

Gary was a very good friend of the Cumming family. The last time we saw him was at his birthday celebration last summer. He had such a great time that afternoon visiting with everyone. It is a great way to remember him. All our best to Tanya, Wade and family.

Gary was a great guy and a cherished family friend. Even though we saw him only every few years, when we visited folks around Mortlach, it was always great to see Gary, with Percy, and the family, and it always felt like we had only seen each other yesterday.
Rest in peace, Gary, and give our love to all the great people we know you’ll be seeing on the other side.
