Karen Trevena

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Trevena (née: Mergen).  Karen was born on June 20th, 1957 and departed her life on Thursday, November 27th, 2025 at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, with all her loving family by her side.  Karen battled with Alzheimer’s disease for many years and was 68 years old when she passed away.  

Karen went to school in Limerick, Saskatchewan from Kindergarten to Grade 12.  After graduating, she attended the U of R and received her teaching degree.  Karen met the love of her life, Keith Trevena, in October of 1980 and they were married on May 1st, 1981.  

She was predeceased by her father, John Mergen; mother, Lorraine Mergen; and brother, Reg Mergen.  Karen is survived by her husband, Keith; sons, Ryan (Tonia) and Curtis (Kaytlin); grandchildren: Ayden, Abbie, Bryden, Xander, Deklan, and Payton; brothers, Joe Mergen and George Mergen; sister, Jeannette Hildebrandt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  

Karen’s greatest pride and joy was her family.  She was a deeply cherished grandmother to her grandkids, and she loved them with pure and joyful affection, delighting in their laughter, accomplishments and company.  Karen loved camping, fishing and trips to the USA with Keith and the boys.  

A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held on Friday, December 5th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 561 Home St W in Moose Jaw.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Karen’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, 301 – 2550-12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
