PAUL K. LAMADINE

1956 – 2025

The life of Paul K. Lamadine was a journey of courage, love, and unbreakable faith.  Born a twin on May 14th, 1956, on his family’s farm in Gbatala, Liberia, Paul’s life began surrounded by the warmth of a large, close-knit family and the deep traditions of his Liberian, Ghanaian, and Ivorian roots.  From his earliest days, he carried the strength and kindness that would guide him through every chapter of his remarkable life.

Paul was a bright and determined young man.  He pursued his education in Gbatala and Monrovia, graduating in 1979.  Before the war changed everything, he found joy in the arts, running his own movie business – a reflection of his creativity and his gift for bringing happiness to others.

In 1981, Paul married the love of his life, Kou Fatu Sawyer Lamadine.  Together they built a home filled with laughter, love, and faith, raising ten beautiful children.  Their marriage was not just a union it was a partnership rooted in devotion and resilience.

When the Liberian Civil War erupted in 1990, Paul became his family’s protector and guiding light.  Through fear and uncertainty, he led them to safety, finding refuge in Nigeria.  Those years tested their strength, but Paul never gave up.  His faith and determination carried his family forward until, in 2003, they made the brave journey to Canada for a new beginning and a promise of peace.

In Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Paul found purpose once more.  He became a respected leader within the Liberian community, offering support and guidance to new immigrants starting their own lives in a foreign land.  He was a mentor, a father figure, and a friend to many.

Paul also found joy in his craft.  He was skilled in automotive and electrical work, known for his patience, precision, and love of restoring old vehicles.  His garage was his sanctuary, a place where broken things became whole again, just as he had helped rebuild so many lives.  He worked proudly in Gravelbourg, SK and retired from the Doepker Company in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.

In 2021, Paul returned to his beloved homeland of Liberia, a journey of reflection and reconnection.  He came home to Canada with peace in his heart.  On Sunday, October 5th, 2025, Paul passed away.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Kou Fatu; their ten children and twenty grandchildren; and a wide circle of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, and dear friends.

Paul’s story is one of endurance, love, and faith.  He was a father, a husband, a friend, and a leader, a man who carried hope wherever he went.  His memory will live forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

Dad, we will forever remember you. Go well, our hero.
