DONALD IRVING LINTON
September 4, 1927 – October 30, 2025
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, friend and supporter of his community, Donald Irving Linton passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, with family by his side.
Donald (Don) will be forever remembered by his wife of 76 years, Ruth; children: Donna (Bill), Debbie, Judy (Harry), Karen (Lyle); and daughter-in-law, Sandy (Keith). He was predeceased by his son Randy in 1999 and daughter Penny in 1956. He was a proud grandfather to 18, great-grandfather to 19, and great-great-grandfather to one who was born in time to meet him. He is also survived by his sister, Kaye and nieces, Pat and Linda.
Don was born to Chester and Laura Linton on their homestead south of Eyebrow, SK. He attended school at Knoll Hill, Gallinger and Eyebrow. He attended Peacock Collegiate in Moose Jaw, SK to finish Grade 12 and attain welder training.
After returning to the farm, Don met the love of his life, Ruth McFadden, a student at Eyebrow School. They spent much of their time at dances, sports days, curling events, movies and hanging out at his bachelor pad at the farm with friends. They married on October 1, 1949, in Moose Jaw and settled on the family farm. Children Donna, Debbie, Judy, Randy, and Karen were welcomed. Daughter Penny was stillborn. Family life was busy with 4-H, figure skating, curling, school events, and farm work.
In 1961-1963, Don worked on the Gardiner Dam Project as a welder. In 1979, Don started work at Foulston’s Farm Electric Service. He rebuilt starters, installed plumbing and heating equipment, and repaired air conditioning and refrigeration units. In 1982 they sold the family farm and built their dream home in Eyebrow. This home was a welcoming space for their expanding family and for entertaining friends. There was ample space to plant trees and garden. The past few years Don used a scooter to go up and down the garden rows.
Don was involved and committed to the Eyebrow community. He was a 4-H leader, volunteer firefighter, Village councilor for 12 years, mayor for 19 years, member of the Rec. Board, Senior’s Centre and the United Church.
Don’s philosophy was to learn a new skill every 5 years. He took training in plumbing, air conditioning, picture framing, pruning trees, playing the piano and violin.
His journey was rich with love, learning, hard work, and meaningful connections. His family is inspired by his love and care for us and his unending ambition. We will miss his many anecdotes. Friends and past coworkers will miss his knowledge, sense of humour and dedication to the community he loved so much.
A Celebration of Life for Don will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Eyebrow Memorial Hall with refreshments to follow. Donations may be made to a local or other charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

My heart goes out to my dear friend Karen who I have known since college days and beyond. Over the years I have marvelled at how FAMILY and her FATHER meant the world to her. My condolences to Karen and the entire Linton family. May he live in all of your hearts and may you be forever INSPIRED by his drive, his goal setting, his community effort and so much more! God Bless!
My condolences to you Karen and the Linton family.
My condolences to Ruth and family. Don was a great man and very helpful to Jerry and I when we lived in Eyebrow.
I spent my childhood growing up in Eyebrow with him as the Mayor and it was always so nice to see him around town, or in his yard- always lending a hand, with a smile on his face.
It feels strange writing this, but how Ruth and Don carried themselves in the community, silently paved the way for a lot of us “kids” in showing us what it is to be genuine, kind and giving.
Ruth, and family, I am so sorry for your loss- he will be missed by many.
Daryl andI send the Linton family our sincere condolences. Don was the ultimate community man. A great family man, always proud of you all and a friend who was always there to lend a hand. A Mr. Fix-it, his talents were always welcome. He was generous and kind to everyone. He will be missed in the community that he loved and by you all in the family that he treasured. We send Ruth and family our sympathy.
Deepest condolences to Ruth and all the family from the Central Area Transportation Planning Committee. Don was part of the organization for over 20 years and was very passionate about the state of the highway’s in his region. He will always be remembered as a pioneer and leader with the organization. The CATPC extends a sincere Thank you Ruth and family for sharing Don with us. It was truly and honour to work along side of him.
So sorry that I was unable to go to the service as I was not well. Thinking of all of you
Our condolences Ruth and the entire family. Reading this beautiful obituary for the first time today since his passing. What a full life he lived! A longtime marriage of 76 years is quite the testimony of longevity as you raised your children, welcomed in laws- grandchildren…. A legacy no doubt. Although I didn’t know Don personally, I have heard heart warming stories of life in eyebrow through Judy’s stories. May the peace of God sustain your heart in this time of grief, remembrance and celebration of his life!
Condolences to Ruth and family.
