IDA JANET GUTTORMSON
1936 – 2025
Ida Janet Guttormson (née: Roe) aged 89 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025.
Born on the Ides of March, March 15th, 1936, in Moose Jaw, Ida was raised by her beloved mother, Lillian and grandmother, Annie Stower, who shaped her into the fiercely independent woman she became. Far from the traditional mold, Ida lived life on her own terms. She was the kind of person you either loved fiercely or respected from afar, with no room for in-between.
“Gramma, the old bag,” as she would’ve loved to be called, was the undisputed life of the party. Yet behind the wheel of her taxi, she became the guardian angel of the night, safely ferrying countless souls home after wild evenings out. A game of cards will never be quite the same without her; she was one of a kind, a force who turned every game into a legend and every gathering into a story worth retelling.
Though she could be abrupt, Ida was never unkind. Ida had a giving heart, one that showed in the smallest gestures. There was never a visit that didn’t end with a change purse full of coins, a snack, or a laugh to take home. She didn’t always say I love you, but her eyes said it for her, and those who knew her best understood how deeply she cared.
She was predeceased by her brother, Donald; sisters, Mimi and Evelyn; daughters, Carol and Heather; and son, Daniel. Ida is survived by her brothers, Frankie and David; children: Pearl, Allen, and Geri “Beanie”; as well as multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In keeping with her spirited legacy, a Celebration of Ida’s Life will be held at the farm. If you weren’t invited, that’s just fine; remember Ida in your own way. She was many things to many people, and for most, she was simply Ida. Honoring her final wish, Ida will be laid to rest alongside her grandmother, Annie Stower, reuniting them at last. In lieu of flowers, pour one out for Ida and raise a glass to the woman who lived unapologetically.
God will link the broken chain,
As one by one, we meet again.
In our hearts, she will always stay,
Loved and remembered every day.

I had the pleasure to have known Ida. She was a spitfire and she really livened up the bingo games at the senior buildings too. She definitely touched my heart and I will miss her.❤️
