KATHERINE WICHARUK
July 20th, 1923 – September 14th, 2025
Our wonderful, beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother Katherine Wicharuk (née: Yaremchuk) aged 102 years, left us peacefully on Sunday, September 14th, 2025 in Saskatoon, SK. Kay (or as the family affectionately called her, Grammies) was born in Endeavour, SK in 1923.
In 1940, Kay married Steve, and they raised three children: Jane, Jerry, and Diane. Steve and Kay were married for 72 years, until Steve’s passing in 2012.
Kay was the most amazing mother and grandmother a family could ever ask for. The family gatherings at her home were the best. Her epic meals, which included the best holubtsi and pedahy, were second to none. Hundreds of pedahy and holubtsi were devoured over the years in her kitchen. Her yard and garden were something to behold. The flowers were so beautiful, and the vegetables were so abundant that the grandkids would often get caught “harvesting” their favourites. Kay was a wonderful caregiver to our family. Even the family dogs, especially Dakota, were showered with her love.
She was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Mary; husband, Steve; daughter, Jane; son, Jerry; son-in-law, Ken; as well as her siblings: Jim, John, Paul, Andrew, Pauline, and Alma. Kay is survived by her daughter, Diane; sister, Anne; daughter-in-law, Sharleen; grandchildren: Kevin, Duke, Rob, and Kimberly; great-grandchildren: Stefan, Alex, Niko, Hudson, Ryden, Ashainna, and Akira; and great-great-grandson, Maddox.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the health care professionals and staff at Stensrud Lodge, Saskatoon.
In keeping with the wishes of Kay, a private interment has taken place at Moose Jaw Funeral Home Columbarium.
“The treasure of a life
Is a measure of love and respect
The way you live the gifts that you give”
Rest in peace Grammies ❤️
Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
