Marcia Christine Reihl

January 1st, 1968 – October 6th, 2025

Marcia Christine Reihl of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan was called home to our Lord on Monday, October 6th, 2025, at the age of 57 years.  Marcia was born in Moose Jaw on January 1st, and true to her character of not wanting to be the center of attention – was the second baby born that New Years Day.

Marcie attended the Moose Jaw Roman Catholic School Division for elementary through high school, graduating in 1986 from Vanier Collegiate.  She went on to study Early Childhood Education, graduating with a diploma from SIAST and worked for two years at a local daycare in Moose Jaw.  This experience cemented her love for children, fueling her decision to attend the University of Regina to obtain her Bachelor of Education in 1993.  Marcie then chose not to have any children of her own, and to dedicate her energy to any future students in her classroom.  She remained in Moose Jaw and followed in her mother’s footsteps with the Moose Jaw Roman Catholic School Division in the fall of 1993.

Marcie remained with the now-named Holy Trinity School Division for the next thirty-two years teaching at 5 different schools, most recently with Our Lady of Hope School.  Her dedication to her students attracted attention and admiration from many colleagues.  She often woke up early to create lesson plans for substitutes, arrived at school sometimes hours before the first bell, and left no child behind.  Marcie was so very excited for and cherished her time at her new school.  She spent the summer before the most recent school year beaming with joy when talking about plans for her new classroom.  This was her life’s mission, and her legacy are the hundreds of students she shaped through those years.

Marcie’s other joys in life included spending time in her garden and diligently nurturing her plants and flowers.  Her garden stood out for its beauty in her neighbourhood and was admired by many.  Marcie was a master of gardening and others often turned to her for advice on their own.  Only two days before her passing, Marcie adorned her yard with tulip bulbs – a gift for her family and friends to admire in the spring.

Marcie also spent numerous hours crafting.  Her creativity sparked countless projects of all kinds – including crocheting, knitting, glasswork, painting, needlework, and floral arrangement.  She enjoyed working with many colours and mediums to express outwardly what beauty she held within.  Another important aspect of Marcie’s life was her precious dogs, most recently her black long-haired dog Koby.  Koby was an old pup, affectionately called ‘Kobster’, who joined Marcie not long after her passing.

She was predeceased by her father, Waldemar (Walter) Reihl and mother, Darlene Reihl (née: Nimegeers).  Marcia will be lovingly remembered by her partner, Emery McQuitty and both his children Kyle (Kathryn) and Natalie, and grandchildren Amelia and Weston.  She is also remembered by her brother, Jeffrey Reihl (Jeanette) and their children Tierney (Kevin), Trayton (Amanda), Aiden (Jen), and Brailen (Precious); brother, Jason Reihl and his daughter Brittany (Tyler); as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on both the Reihl and Nimegeers side of the family.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St, Moose Jaw, SK.  The Reihl and McQuitty family graciously accept any floral arrangements in Marcia’s name, as she would be honoured to be surrounded with flowers as she was in her garden.  If so wishing, donations in Marcia’s name may also be made to the St. Nicolas Fund in Memory of Marcia Reihl through the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division located at 445 13th Avenue NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 6B9.  Cheques can be sent in the mail, addressed to Holy Trinity Catholic School Division.  Alternatively, a link will be listed below if wishing to donate online.  This project is aimed at providing disadvantaged students with important school supplies, jackets, mittens, or personal care products to help them focus on their studies.  https://www.htcsd.ca/apps/form/form.HTCSD.uuTJGvM.UJ_

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Saying good bye is never easy, especially to a kind, loving teacher who had shaped the hearts and minds of so many kids!
Thank you for making a difference in so many lives.
You left such an indelible mark on my daughter’s heart and were a true inspiration and guiding light. She said you gave the BEST hugs and she is so glad she got the past 2 years with you as her teacher.

The classroom will not be the same without your infectious smile, enthusiasm and boundless knowledge.

Prayers and condolences to her spouse and family. She was an absolute gem.

Marica was a lovely lady. I had the privilege of working with her for a short time at St. Michael’s school. She was a great team member, very kind and always willing to lend a hand. Her students adored her, and she will be missed. Praying for peace and comfort for the family at this difficult time.

Hello Reihl family, I am sending love and prayers to your family. Marcie, Jeanne, Franny, Jamie and I were all the best of friends all throughout high school. I have so many fond funny, wonderful memories of such a kind, beautiful girl, that I am fortunate to have known. I can’t even tell you how many miles we put on in her blue Honda. Her parents took me camping, and I spent many noon hours at her home, God bless Marcie and your family!
