ORVILLE WAYNE LEUGNER

April 16th, 1942 – October 6th, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce that Orville Wayne Leugner passed away peacefully at home in his chair on Monday, October 6th, 2025, at the age of 83 years, surrounded by the people who loved him most — his family.  Orville will be remembered by his wife of 58 years, Darlene; children, Mark (Lori) Leugner and Lorna (Grant) Mackie; grandchildren: Paige Mackie, Bailey Mackie, Taylor (Richard), and Linden (Donna, Jaxson); chosen family, Jessie and Beth Noble; great-grandchildren, Cash and Calla; brothers: Clayton (Joan) Leugner, Lloyd (Joylyn) Leugner, and Elton (Linda) Leugner; sister, Elaine Gill; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.

Orville grew up in Crestwynd, SK and went back to school to become one of the best welders around.  In 1973, Orv and Dar bought their cattle/grain farm, where they have lived for the past 52 years.  Farming was more than a job for Orville — it was a passion, a way of life, and something he took great pride in.

Orville also had a deep love for music, dancing, and the occasional jam session — especially if it meant pulling out the guitar or tapping a toe to an old tune.  He never met a stranger that he couldn’t talk to, and if you had a few minutes (or a few hours), he was more than happy to chat — whether it was over coffee or a cigarette.

Orville was known for his signature salute, a cheeky middle finger that he used as a greeting or a see you later.  He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor, a heart of gold, and could get away with saying things that no one else could.  Orville was admired, respected, and loved by many.  He leaves behind a legacy of family, friends, laughter and stories that only comes from living a life well lived.

A Celebration Tea will be held on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 561 Home St W in Moose Jaw. In lieu of flowers, donations in Orville’s memory can be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Ave, Regina, SK S4W 0G3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Cara Ashworth, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
