Michael Pylychaty

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father and stepfather, Michael Pylychaty on Monday, February 3rd, 2025.  Mike was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend.

Born September 4th, 1930, in Handel, SK, Mike went into the trades as a plumber/pipefitter, and he was a proud member of the UA Local 179.  Earlier in Mike’s career, he started his own company before he went to work at various companies in Moose Jaw, including C&E Mechanical and Moose Jaw Plumbing and Heating, where he retired.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Steffie (1982); second wife, Doreen (2024); son, David (2004); parents, John and Maria; brothers, Pete and Paul; sister, Annie Link; brothers-in-law, Joseph Zubkowski and John Kleingertner; grandson, Kyle Bailey (2008); and son-in-law, Ken Hertes (2009).  Mike is survived by his daughter, Cathy Pylychaty; grandchildren: Chad (Grace) Pylychaty, Ashley Pylychaty, Lindsey (Allison) Pylychaty, Amanda (Patrick) Faith, and Keenan Pylychaty; sisters, Tina Zubkowski and Mary Kleingertner; stepchildren: Debbie (Barry) Sullivan, Cindy (Dan) O’Connell, Brenda (Gregg) McSherry, Terry (Perry) Rayner, Kevin (Teresa) Clark, Glenda (Robin) Bailey, Chris Clark, and Sandra Hertes; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mike and Doreen married in august of 1982.  They travelled throughout Canada and the USA visiting family and friends.  They built a house in Tuxford, SK in the summer of 1985.  Mike was always helping someone fix things.  Around 2008, Mike and Doreen moved back to Moose Jaw and resided at the Trans Canada Trailer Court, then onto Chez Nous, and finally to Mike’s final home at Chateau St. Michael’s.  The family appreciates the care they gave to Mike.

A Funeral Service for Michael will be held on Friday, May 16th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Foley will officiate and Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Those not able to attend may view the service virtually by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/.   As an expression of sympathy, donations in Mike’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, PO Box 1658, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

I never knew Michael, but I got to know his daughter Cathy through work for several years. God rest him, and may God provide peace and grace for Cathy and everyone else who loved Michael.
