Ritchie Yee
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ritchie Yee on Thursday, October 15th, 2026 at the age of 58 years. Ritchie was born on December 8th, 1967 in Regina, Saskatchewan to parents Edward Joy Yau Yee and Yuet Sung Lee.
Ritchie was a social and personable man who had a natural ability to make friends wherever he went. Whether at the gym, meeting other parents through his children’s sports teams, or chatting with nurses during his hospital stay, he enjoyed connecting with people from all walks of life. He spent many years working in the restaurant industry, where his love of food carried over into his home life. He was the main cook in the family and showed his love through the meals he prepared.
Ritchie had a lifelong passion for music, beginning in his early days playing electric guitar. This passion grew into countless hours spent building and tinkering with DIY audio electronics, a hobby he inherited from his dad, Edward. He also loved going to concerts, collecting watches, and cheering on the Toronto Raptors and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He had a lifelong love of dogs, growing up with German Shepherds and later sharing that love with the family’s own German Shepherd, Rudy.
Ritchie took a genuine interest in his children’s lives and extracurricular activities, from teaching his oldest son, Thomas, to drive stick shift and going to the gym with Alexander, to travelling to watch Josef play volleyball. He also enjoyed visiting his daughter, Helena, in Toronto, where they spent time exploring the city and trying different restaurants together, with Helena introducing him to some of her favourite spots. In August, he had the joy of celebrating Helena’s wedding, a special milestone that will always be cherished.
Ritchie was a longtime member of the Associated Canadian Travellers (ACT), where he served as treasurer and helped oversee the finances supporting the organization’s charitable donations. Through his years of involvement, he contributed to ACT’s longstanding commitment to giving back to the Moose Jaw community, supporting local health care, community services, and educational opportunities.
He was predeceased by his father, Edward Joy Yau Yee; brother-in-law, Lawrence Ling; and uncle, Lloyd Yee. Ritchie will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Yuet Sung Yee; wife, Eugenie; and children: Thomas, Helena (Robert), Alexander, and Josef. He is also survived by his sister, Sabrina Ling (John); brother, Robert (Jackie); nieces, Aileen (Derek) and Monique (Isabelle); as well as many nephews and numerous cousins, especially Vincent Yee and Sylvia Shang.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for their kindness, care, and compassion.
Ritchie will be remembered for his warm personality, his many interests, his love of cooking, and the time he devoted to his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A private family gathering to celebrate Ritchie’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ritchie’s memory may be made to either the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2 or Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
