Barb Shirley Ruether

Barb Shirley Ruether of Moose Jaw, SK. passed away at Hospice Care at Pioneer Lodge with family by her side on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 73 years of age. She grew up on the family farm north of Kindersley, SK. She attended school at Coleville and Kindersley and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with an Education Degree. She taught school for thirty years at Kerrobert, Liberty and Imperial before her retirement in 2005. Barb and Doug spent 20 years wintering in Arizona.

Barb was predeceased by her parents, Garnett and Renee Geddes.  She is survived by her husband, Doug; two sons, Tim (Tanya) and Bryan; grandchildren: Quinn, Vanek, Jaxon and Emory; siblings: Margaret (Earl), Jim (Sheri), Velma (Clay), Ruby (Terry), Susan (Mike), Rob (Bonnie) as well as many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Barb’s life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barb’s name may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre or to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation.
