Our loving mother, Doreen Sylvia Porter (née Ostapowich), was called home to Heaven to be with the Lord. Doreen passed away on Saturday Sept 5th, 2026, at 77 years old, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Alice Ostapowich, brother Karl Ostapowich, sister Pauline (Charlie) Johnson, nephew Curtis Martin. Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Debbie (Gerrit) Van Wyk; son, Scott Jonsson; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Brenden Jesse; sister, Lillian (Chad) Martin; nephews, Jason (Tricia) Martin, Kyle Martin and family; nieces, Penny Morrison, Sandie (Kevin) Frank and their families.
Doreen had a zest for life. She loved having fun, eating out, shopping, cooking/baking new recipes, playing cards and spending time with her family which included the granddogs she loved so much. She had a very creative side and enjoyed decorating and creating permanent floral decor. Doreen’s joyful spirit was evident to all who knew her. She had a positive outlook on life and a heartwarming laugh we will always remember. She enhanced the lives of many people in her family, friendships, and work. Doreen truly made the world a brighter place and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Though our hearts are broken, we take solace that this goodbye is not forever- until we meet again in God’s eternal home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare Moose Jaw and Dr. Kevin Dautremont for their kindness and care in Doreen’s final years.

I am so sorry to see Doreen passed away. I have so many great memories of Doreen. She was a great coworker and friend.
She will be missed.
