Margaret (Maggie) Helen Peto

Margaret (Maggie) Helen Peto aged 80 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20th, 2026.  Maggie was born on May 16th, 1946 in Kipling, SK and grew up on the family farm near there.  Maggie had special needs so at a young age, she was sent to live at Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw, SK.  Sometime later, she was moved to Saskatoon, SK where she spent many years of her life.  Upon the passing of her caregiver in Saskatoon in 2009, Maggie came to live with Marlene Borthwick (Momma Bear) in Moose Jaw.  She continued to live with Marlene until the spring of 2026 when due to deteriorating health issues, Maggie was moved to the Herbert Integrated Health Facility where she later passed away.  Many thanks go out to the staff at the Herbert Integrated Facility for the wonderful care Maggie received during the short time she spent at the facility.

She was predeceased by her parents, Sara and Frank Peto.  Maggie is survived by her caregiver of 17 years, Marlene Borthwick and all of Marlene’s family, whom she considered her family; and many special friends.

Maggie enjoyed her new life in Moose Jaw.  She attended Diversified Services where she enjoyed participating in various activities and going on outings.  Maggie adored her worker there – Darci Dessert and her special friend Kirby.  Maggie also loved her Community Living workers – Sara Jo, Lindsay, and Mark.  Maggie took the Para Transit bus to diversified and was always ready and waiting for her bus driver, either Gary or Terry, to come and pick her up.  Maggie got to experience many new things upon her return to Moose Jaw, such as gardening, dancing, shopping, swimming, and bowling.  She also got to go to movies, restaurants, rodeos, and family vacations.  Maggie was quite artistic and enjoyed crocheting, petit point, and coloring.  She loved pets, babies, children, and her stuffies.  She was a ray of sunshine to have around the house; never complaining and always greeting everyone with a smile and a hug.
