Neithercut, Michael Raymond
Michael Raymond Neithercut
It is with great sadness the family of Michael Raymond Neithercut, aged 82 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, announce that he peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 6th, 2026, at the Raphael Wing at Providence Place.
Mike was born September 12th, 1944 in Hemel Hempstead, England to Rae and Gladys Neithercut. Rae was stationed in England, serving with the Canadian Armed Forces. Gladys and Mike immigrated to Canada in December 1944.
Mike grew up on Hochelaga Street East, enjoying a typical childhood of that era. With many children in the neighborhood, there was always a game of football, baseball, or street hockey to be played. His love of hockey continued into adulthood, with goalie being his favorite position. His dad introduced him to ice fishing and golf, so they spent many winter days out on Buffalo Pound Lake and summer days on the golf course. Mike continued using his original set of golf clubs well into his 50’s. He and his wife Sandy loved tennis and played for many years. Mike attended Prince Arthur School, Moose Jaw Tech High, and one year at St. Louis College.
His working life included jobs a what is now the Moose Jaw Refinery, Safeway, and as a milkman. In 1972 he began a 32-year career with CP Rail. Mike met Sandy through their work at CP Rail and were married on May 21st, 1988. A job transfer took them to Winnipeg, MB in 1994. Mike retired in 2004 as a Car Control South Clerk, and a pull of family brought them back to Moose Jaw in 2005.
Mike’s greatest joy was his family. He never missed a sporting event or dance competition. Family vacations to Disney were cherished, and Mike and Sandy made regular trips to the Canadian Rockies.
You could always count on Mike for a little bit of craziness and a good laugh. Thankfully that playful spirit and sense of humour remained evident throughout his journey with dementia.
He was predeceased by his parents; and parents-in-law, Sandy and Elsie Murray. Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Sandy; his daughter, Kim (Terry Banilevic); grandchildren, Brooklyn and Kaedyn; great-grandchildren, Saylor and Layken; and his son, Kevin. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bruce Murray (Mary B.); nieces, Jenn Rogers (Jay Ludwar), Brittany Langelier (Tyson); nephews, Devon (Nikki), Brandon (Evanna), and Josh (Chloe); great-nieces and nephews: Brody, Carson, Lincoln, Lily, Alex, Violet, Jacob, Sophia, Liam, Luke, and Mason; and fur baby, Ginger. Mike will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to express gratitude to all staff at Providence Place for their wonderful care of Mike over the past 3 years.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 24th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Mike’s name may be made to the Maguire Center Program, Providence Place Foundation, 100 – 2nd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
