James Murdock

After completing his grade 12 diploma from Central Butte High School in 1989, James accepted an apprenticeship position with Ross Funeral Service in Assiniboia, SK. James was drawn to this career as he has a family history in that his uncle, Rae Murdock, successfully owned and managed Westwood Funeral Chapel in Saskatoon . In April of 1994 James convocated from the University of Saskatchewan as a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer, also accepting an award for most congenial student, he then began employment with Parkview Funeral Chapel. James currently resides in Moose Jaw with his wife Beverly and two daughters Sydney and Jenna.

James' commitment to his community and dedication to networking can be illustrated as follows:

  • Member of the Board of Directors for the Moose Jaw Health Foundation
  • Active member in the Moose Jaw Lions Club, holding positions of past president, treasurer and director
  • Annually organizes the White Cane Christmas fellowship supper
  • Team captain for "Relay for Life" 2004-2006, and member of team for several years
  • Meals on wheels volunteer
  • 1999 Chairperson of Lions/CNIB Charity Golf Classic, raising approx $17,000
  • 2 year director of the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce
  • Member of the Moose Jaw Shrine Club
  • 2004-2006 Lions Volunteer to organize "Adopt a Family" for Christmas
  • Annual volunteer for the Salvation Army Kettle Campaign
  • Member of St. Aidan Anglican Church
  • Volunteer coach for Timbits soccer league
